PLAZA CUARTEL

Originally built by the Spaniards as a garrison to watch out for coming invaders, it eventually became a penal colony during the Japanese occupation. It housed hundreds of prisoners of war, mostly American soldiers. And towards the latter part of World War II, when the Japanese knew they were about to lose the war, imperial soldiers executed these prisoners.
