GOVERNOR'S RAPPIDS, MADDELA

The town of Maddela, which is a branch of the Cagayan River, is home to the Governer’s Rapids. Its remarkably clear water has earned it the distinction of being one of the cleanest inland bodies of water in the entire Cagayan Valley. The river’s continuous erosion has created the surrounding landscape’s tall limestone formations and rock shelters. The Dumagat, or indigenous people, used these rock shelters as a haven during extremely severe weather conditions.
